I strongly object to any more housing in the village, the village is used as a rat run and the speed limit is not met, even when It was a 30 mph now it is 20 so even worse. It is dangerous and very unpleasant. More housing, people and cars in the village is only going to make matters worse.
I grew up in fencott and the is Nothing being done by the council and government to keep these villages the pleasant rural area they were.
The roads as well as being busy are horrendous with pot hole, dips, and verges not being kept .
No facility’s in the village.
More houses,? Who is that going to benefit , only land owners and construction companies.
It is a definite NO FROM ME.
This doesn’t really sound like a plan. What are the parish going to “do”, going forward. The village hall desperately needs sorting as there is no focal point for anything in the village.
The plan should take the opportunity to put forward ideas for what development would take place to benefit the village as a whole, in return for any housing development in the parish (eg demolishion of current village hall and construction of an attractive multi-use building in its place). There needs to be proper consultation with the village for ideas.
There needs to be proper consultation with the village with regards to the sites for proposed development. If surveys need to be carried out before a site is deemed suitable, then these surveys should happen in advance of proposing a specific piece of land in the Plan.
The sites currenty proposed are too numerous and no consultation has taken place with the village or afaik the landowners.
There might be a shortlist of proposed development sites on which a village-wide vote might be taken to identify the site(s) to be put forward in the Plan.
The Plan should make reference to the amount of housing the village might sustain, its specific nature and also architectural design.
The proposals for any development sites need to take into account regulations regarding access.
The hub of the Plan must be village consultation which, so far, seems to be minimal.
The whole point of the Plan is to give the village some control over what development takes place and how the village might benefit in return.
Having looked at the plan I believe our property, First Lawn, to be a good location for development. It’s high ground, it has no significant historical sites and has no green belt nearby. It is surrounded by beautiful walks and opposite Merton Woods.
There is space for plenty of good housing and even a shop.

Some homes are heated by LPG – bottles / tanks as well as oil and electricity.
Charlton-on-Otmoor school is also an option for children from Merton.
